My name is Heather and I live in Seattle.
I like to cook. I like to take walks. I like to share. I’m an amateur everything, except for befriending squirrels. I’m a pro at that. I don’t like chocolate cake so much but that doesn’t mean I won’t bake one here eventually. I try to mix it up. A little tofu. A few beans. Maybe a potato. Then – pow! – a pie. And then back to a little tofu. I hope you like it.
I take all my photos with a Cannon PowerShot, that’s a point and shoot, kids. It’s even set to “auto”. My kitchen window is my only light source, even in winter. That’s when I make everything early in the morning to catch the daylight. But back to that point and shoot thing – it’s proof anyone can take nice pictures, even of food. So if you’ve thought of doing something like this I say go for it. I bet you’ll be great.

I’ve never made a mixed bean soup before! I poked around some and seems like none of my go-to blog favorites have a recipe posted either. It’s underrepresented!

For switching up a recipe you might find, my favorite veggie broth is Better Than Bouillon No Chicken. It comes in a jar and is great. If the soup includes an Italian sausage Field Roast makes an amazing one. If you haven’t tried it, I wholeheartedly recommend them. I’d brown them separately and add them to the soup when you serve it.
